I’m a design engineer, I design mechanisms and machinery associated with the transport of bulk materials. My role also includes managing people, managing projects and delivering those projects for clients.
When I come to work, I am very driven and excited about the opportunities I’m working on. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in charge of my own projects; and I’m always looking for new products or new solutions to challenging problems that haven’t been solved.
There are two particularly great things about working at Aurecon: the people and the projects. The people are just great; you can talk to anyone at any level of the
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on recently is the Brisbane Flood Recovery Ferry Terminals. That project really pushed the boundaries, in terms of ferry terminal design; there were many world-first concepts developed there. In my role, I was allowed to be creative, and I was given the freedom to find new ways of doing things and new solutions to problems that hadn’t been addressed before. That project has since received recognition from both domestic and international industry bodies.
My strongest Aurecon Attribute is being resourceful, which means I can find a creative way of addressing a problem. It means I often have wild and crazy ideas, and people have to bring me back to earth, on occasion; but I think that in the end, that makes me passionate about my job, and those attributes make me who I am.
Have fun! Have fun with your career, and have fun with your time at Aurecon. If you have fun, you’ll be enthusiastic, you’ll be passionate, and you’ll bring a vibrancy to the workplace that I guarantee others will notice.
