He has an extensive track record in corporate strategic planning and the implementation of complex infrastructure projects, both from an organisational and a whole-of-life asset management perspective.
What drives you?
To have Aurecon seen as a genuine multi-disciplinary consultant, capable of providing clients with infrastructure advice - from concept through to delivery and whole-of-life management.
I really enjoy mentoring people within Aurecon to maximise career opportunities.
An essential key to innovative thinking? And why?
Providing teams with the necessary tools and a creative environment, which will empower them to “think beyond the obvious”. Also by encouraging people to communicate with clients, peers, competitors to ensure that we stay ahead of the game.
Keys to a successful project delivery?
Planning, planning and more planning. It helps to have a total picture of the way a project is likely to evolve.
Ensuring a thorough approach to risk management and continuity of well-trained resources is important. Well planned and documented communication is always critical - both internally with the Aurecon team and with the client.
Finally, knowing exactly what your client is expecting out of the commission is critical to successful delivery, so that there are no surprises.
The most important lesson you learnt early in your career?
Being a sponge for information, working hard to gain necessary qualifications and being prepared to take a risk, stretch yourself and never forget the importance of the TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More).
Where do you see business and infrastructure advisory over the next five years?
Demand for these services is now even stronger in this challenging economic environment; key clients need help in re-focussing their organisations and driving infrastructure investments harder.
