Proudest moment in your career?

Dalrymple Bay Stage 6 Expansion – Engineering Manager role, 2003.  The project was delivered smoothly, incorporating all sorts of design innovations on the Aurecon Shiploader and the wharf berthing dolphin system.  But most importantly, the lead marine, mechanical, and structural engineers were all young mid-level engineers, and first time discipline leads, and now they are all Technical Directors at Aurecon, making substantial contributions to the business.

What drives you?

I am passionate about excellent client service, about involving all stakeholders in a project and bringing them along on the journey.  I am also very proud of being part of the Aurecon team that has developed world renowned technical expertise in the exposed offshore export facilities.

Keys to a successful project delivery?

Understanding the brief.  Developing a deep relationship with the client, and communicating clearly and with integrity with them.

The most important lesson you learnt early in your career?

“If you don’t make mistakes, you are not doing work.”  The important thing is how you deal with the mistake – identifying it, seeking advice, and rectifying it.

Where do you see ports and coastal over the next five years?

I see Aurecon truly diversifying both in terms of port and coastal service offering, and geography.  Aurecon now has substantial track record and capability in Asia, Africa, and Australia, and has the diversity of skills sets to deliver whole of port solutions for any and all types of port facilities.
