A wide range of other events arranged by Limelight, Aurecon’s young professionals forum, took place involving Aurecon staff at our offices globally.
In Auckland, staff raised NZD308 for the Auckland City Mission to fund rehabilitation programmes by hosting a bake sale for Mandela Day.
The Darwin Limelight committee chose to support Operation Christmas Child for Mandela Day. Operation Christmas Child is a project to distribute Christmas presents consisting of decorated shoe boxes filled with gifts to children in need throughout Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, thereby letting them know that they are loved and not forgotten.
In Bangkok, the Limelight committee collected used books and clothing to donate to people in need. They also encouraged staff to download the “Be My Eyes” App to provide help and support for blind people.
Our Polokwane office visited the Shalate Orphanage and Drop-In Centre for young mothers, in Seshego, Limpopo. Staff donated much needed stationery and food packs to learners, and spent the day helping at the centre.
Staff in Port Elizabeth spent their 67 minutes at Lower Walmer Primary. They donated netball and soccer equipment and spent the morning playing these sports with the learners. In addition, a recycling initiative has been set up in the office where all funds received from recycling is donated to the school.
This year, the Sydney Limelight committee decided to focus on food security. They raised a AUD453 for OzHarvest; the equivalent of 906 meals for people in need.
Tshwane office staff spent time at African Blessings, Tshwane Home of Hope and the Mamelodi West Clinic.
Limelight Wellington went to the local zoo to volunteer their time for the day to improve access for zoo keepers to the Wallaby enclosure in winter which gets muddy and slippery.
