Aurecon reiterates its commitment to helping advance development in countries across the continent
25 May 2017 - Today we commemorate Africa Day. In a seminal moment in Africa’s history, 32 African countries met in Addis Ababa on 25 May 1963 to form the Organisation of Africa Unity (OAU). The occasion would pave the way for solidarity and unite a continent in a common vision as its countries fought for their independence from colonial rule.
Nearly forty years later the African Union (AU), which evolved out of the OAU, was officially launched. The organisation plays a pivotal role in improving living standards across its member states. Its commitment – encapsulated by the phrase ‘The Africa we want’ – is contained in a continental vision known as Agenda 2063.
As the AU charts its way towards an Africa that reflects the aspirations of her people, Aurecon reiterates its commitment to helping advance development in countries across the continent. Our full support of Agenda 2063 is reflected in Aurecon Africa’s own aspiration – ‘To be an inspiration for Afrika’.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be unfolding Aurecon’s Afrikan Design Innovation strategy, a strategy that embodies our vision. Part of this involves building partnerships and participating in key events such as the Nairobi International Design Conference – #NIDEC2017 – which takes place this week.
This will be a fundamental point of departure to help bring ideas and concepts to life which, in partnership with our clients, help build ‘The Afrika we want’.
