02 July 2015 - With the global focus now firmly being on how the engineering industry can best leverage advances in technology and data management to deliver value to clients, one of the UK’s leading experts in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Will Hackney, has joined Aurecon as our Infrastructure BIM Leader.

Having studied civil engineering and completed an MSc in IT Management in Construction at Salford University, Will has developed a wealth of experience in managing and implementing BIM, both strategically and technically. Much of Will’s career to date has been spent with leading contractor, VINCI (formerly Taylor Woodrow Construction) and as the BIM Leader for Transport for London (TfL), the UK’s largest infrastructure operator/owner.

“Will has been actively involved in many of the UK Government’s early adopter projects including one of the first BS1192 pilots in 2005 and work on Crossrail, as both a supplier with VINCI and as an infrastructure manager with TfL,” said David Ness, Market Director - Infrastructure, ANZ.

Will is a member of BIM4Infrastructure, BIM4Clients, the BIM2050 Group and an advisor to The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK, where he continues to influence industry best practice for life-cycle information modelling and management.

“I am thrilled to join Aurecon at such an exciting time. As we build our strength, through both capability and agility, I believe that we have the potential to become world leaders in Digital Engineering,” said Will.

“I look forward to working with my infrastructure colleagues to better enhance our capability around Digital Engineering and to deliver significant value capture for our clients.  I’m also really pleased to have the opportunity to work alongside John Hainsworth, Buildings BIM Leader, to help shape and secure Aurecon’s future around Digital Engineering in both our existing and emerging markets,” added Will.

Will joins Aurecon from TfL, where he led a business transformation programme for Information Modelling & Management (IM&M) in line with the UK Governments BIM Level 2 Mandate for 2016.
