15 July 2015 - Aurecon understands the full spectrum of waste management issues and solutions. The company provides management and technical resources to assist in developing and implementing integrated system plans and infrastructure.

In line with this, Nick Mannie, Aurecon Technical Director and waste management expert, delivered an insightful and informative presentation on the management and planning of construction and demolition waste at the Vision Zero Waste seminar, which formed part of Sustainability Week 2015.

The conference took place at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Tshwane, South Africa from 23-28 June and is recognised as Africa’s largest green economy event.

Waste management projects typically involve long operational life spans and, consequently, the majority of costs are operational. Mannie highlighted the importance of identifying and understanding these costs, as well as assisting clients in making informed decisions and avoiding unnecessary costs through proper planning.

“The total waste system needs to be fully understood in order to develop the most suitable approaches to manage the waste stream. A thorough understanding of the life-cycle costs of waste management systems allows companies such as Aurecon to identify and understand these costs, enabling the company to make informed decisions to minimise them, while attending to the client and community’s needs,” said Mannie.
