Aurecon discusses planning future cities at IMESA 2014

Johan van den Berg

23 September 2014 - Aurecon will attend the 2014 IMESA Conference, to be held at the International Convention Centre in Durban from 29 – 31 October.

In addition to its large group of delegates, Aurecon Strategic and Integrated Planner Johan van den Berg will be presenting a paper on the City of Johannesburg’s Consolidated Infrastructure Plan (CIP).

The City of Johannesburg’s Growth and Development Strategy’s goal is to create a future city that is sustainable, caring, smart, democratic, financially successful and institutionally functional. Johannesburg’s infrastructure, however, faces a number of challenges in order to achieve these goals. The CIP aims to consolidate and integrate planning, implementation and management of infrastructure-related programmes in order to meet the city’s Growth and Development Strategy’s goal.

This topic is perfectly aligned with this year’s IMESA Conference theme, ‘Balancing Service Delivery’, and will enable attendees to learn about the unique features and challenges that are faced when developing a set of planning instruments for improved service delivery in the municipal space, especially with regards to a city the size of Johannesburg.

Aurecon will also have a stand at the conference which clients can visit to discover more about how Aurecon can assist them in developing future cities.
