06 February 2014 - A paper on the implementation of a Monte Carlo framework for the Brisbane River Catchment Flood Study will be presented at the 35th Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium to be held from 24 – 27 February 2014 in Perth, Australia.

The project team appointed to undertake the Brisbane River Catchment Flood Study, which includes Aurecon and its subcontractors Deltares, Royal HaskoningDHV and Don Carroll Project Management (DCPM), developed the paper.

“As the study is still in progress the findings presented in this paper are preliminary and are subject to further review,” Aurecon Project Leader Rob Ayre said.

DCPM Director Don Carroll will be presenting the paper on behalf of the project team.

Hosted by Engineers Australia and its National Committee on Water Engineering, the symposium will focus on hydrology, water engineering and related areas in water resources management.

Chris Russell, Project Director for the Brisbane River Catchment Flood Study, will be attending the symposium. “We are looking forward to meeting with our clients at the event to discuss the challenges they are facing,” Chris said.

The Aurecon project team has developed sophisticated and advanced scientific and technical techniques to address the complex issue of flood assessment in a catchment that includes the effects of flood mitigation dams and concurrent flooding of highly urbanised areas.
