Ken has over 25 years’ experience in business and project management. He has occupied a number of senior positions within the Queensland public and private sectors over the past 15 years and built a strong reputation for delivery of complex and difficult projects on time and on budget. He was a formative member of the Queensland Rail Network Access Unit, later to become the Network Access Group, and has extensive experience with asset valuation (DORC/ORC), competition reform and competitive access, and Rail Accreditation including corridor sub-lease.
Alex provides expert advice on rail infrastructure and operations planning for clients globally. He has a long history in railway accounting and railway economics. He has an expert understanding of rail planning and logistics chains. Alex has considerable experience in planning, designing and costing rail logistics supply chains. Prior to joining Aurecon in 2008, Alex was with Queensland Rail (QR) for 25 years performing a number of senior roles involving strategic infrastructure planning (including developing QR's first Rail Infrastructure Master Plan for Central Queensland Coal Region, regulation and policy, commercial and technical.
John has 28 years' experience in the design, documentation and project management of railway control and communications systems, in Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. John is currently Aurecon's rail systems services leader, responsible for ensuring Aurecon's rail systems projects are resourced correctly and ensuring Aurecon's rail systems skills remain current. John also has previous experience with tunnels and in the defence industry. John has worked in a range of positions including design manager, principal design engineer, project manager and installation and commissioning supervisor.
Christopher applies a proactive approach to business leadership, project management and problem solving, and strives to lead by example by being accountable, delegating appropriately, communicating effectively and applying meticulous planning to all tasks. Christopher’s leadership style is one that demonstrates the optimum balance of assertiveness, encouragement, adaptation and consultation.
Sam has a broad range of experience of working on multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects in Project Management and Design Management roles. He was the Design Manager on the South West Rail Link Project with responsibility for the entire design process and is currently the Design Manager for the Auburn Stabling Project. He has proven his capability on a wide range of rail projects in NSW and has a detailed understanding of Transport for NSW and RailCorp design processes. Sam understands how to bring together and manage a multidisciplinary team.
Troy Burton is a chartered civil engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the private sector. Troy specialises in the design delivery of major multi discipline rail infrastructure projects including; Design Manager for LUAS (light rail) B1 Line extension (€80M euros D&C), Dublin; Design Manager Laois Train Care Heavy Rail Depot (€50M euros D&C); Design Manager and AMT member for TrackStar Alliance Richlands to Springfield ($350M competitive alliance); Bid Design manger on recently successful TrackStar MBRL team for Moreton Bay Rail Link ($650M modified dECI); and currently Bid Design Manager for NWRL OTS TransForm Consortium ($2.5bN PPP). Troy also has extensive experience on the client side including; Design Director for the DART Underground Project (reference design and planning approval phase €2Bn; technical advisor to Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP ($1Bn) and Sydney Light Rail (>$1Bn).
Mal Lauder is a Registered Project Manager, specialising in rail projects, particularly in Train Control and Information Systems. He has broad industry experience with system operators, designers, manufacturers and consultants. He has prepared feasibility and concept design reports and implemented detailed designs for; Train Control, Passenger Information, Remote Terminal Units, and SCADA Systems. His experience includes management of project teams and contract administration for computer based real-time control systems. Outside of his technical and business skills, Mal’s key strength is his ability to work within and lead teams to successfully achieve a common set of objectives.
David started in the railway industry 27 years ago and has been heavily involved in the delivery of major rail projects throughout Australia and Asia throughout his career. He has successfully undertaken a number of relationship based leadership positions including Program Manager and Alliance Leadership Team roles for major rail delivery projects. David has held significant roles in the planning, as well as delivery, for a number of key projects in Perth and across Australia. He has worked closely with various Government agencies including a number of local governments in WA, Department of Transport WA, Public Transport Authority WA, Main Roads WA and Water Corporation WA and Treasury Victoria.
Ralph has over 14 years’ experience in the definition, specification, design and delivery management of public transport system projects, involving freight, heavy commuter rail and light rapid transit systems. Initially specialising in overhead contact line (OCL) systems for both AC and DC traction power distribution, he has developed a full understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of projects and has demonstrated abilities in effective interface management, through all stages within the project lifecycle. In addition, he has experience in the design of railway station based systems, including lifts, escalators and station mechanical services.
