7 November 2013 - Aurecon's Code of Conduct and Ethics sets out the company’s commitment to working with stakeholders in all industries to promote ethical practices and procedures.

In line with this, Aurecon is partnering with Thandi Modise, Premier of the North West Province, on the third Provincial Anti-Corruption Forum at Orion Safari Lodge in Rustenburg, as both sponsor and co-host.

Modise is a passionate advocate against corruption in South Africa. In a statement leading up to the International Anti-Corruption Day in 2012, Modise stated: “Fraud and corruption pose a serious threat to the stability and security of societies as they undermine democratic institutions and values of our democracy, ethical values and justice and also jeopardise sustainable development, effective service delivery and the rule of law.” (Source:

The company has been extensively involved in projects across the North West Province, including the recently completed Bapong Traffic Control Centre (TCC) and the detailed design and construction supervision for the upgrade of mechanical and electrical equipment at pumpstations in the City of Matlosana.

The three-day symposium kicked off with a gala dinner on 6 November, followed by a comprehensive two-day programme aimed at taking a stand against corruption and providing valuable networking opportunities for businesses and individuals who are committed to ethics in the business arena. Ronnie Khoza, Aurecon’s Head of Offices RSA, will deliver a keynote address focusing on the importance of ethical practices and procedures and the importance of the private sector partnering with government to ensure this is upheld.

Additional speakers and topics, amongst others, include:

  • Andrew Pillmot, Ernst&Young – Cyber Crime: The use of modern technology to perpetuate fraud and corruption
  • Gerhard Geldenhuys, Price Waterhouse Cooper – Fraud red flags: Valuable tools for effective risk management
  • Steven Powel, ENS – How money laundering affects the South African economy

Aurecon interacts with and operates in many different communities worldwide and aims to strengthen its position in the market in an honest and ethical way. By sponsoring and co-hosting this forum, Aurecon has once again made a clear commitment to doing business on the basis of fairness, honesty and integrity.
