Ashley Stevenson gains Greenroads Sustainable Transportation Professional accreditation
20 February 2013 - Ashley Stevenson from Aurecon's Abu Dhabi office, has gained a Sustainable Transportation Professional (STP) accreditation from Greenroads, a global sustainability rating system for roadway design and construction.
The Greenroads Foundation is a non-profit, third-party organisation established by the University of Washington in 2010 to manage certification reviews for roadway and transportation projects using the Greenroads Rating System.
The Greenroads Rating System uses a points system to measure the effect of sustainable design and construction techniques adopted on a project. Each project is given a rating based on a minimum accumulation of points and mandatory inclusions. Ratings given are Certified, Silver, Gold and Evergreen.
Education is a core component of the Greenroads Foundation’s mission, and the STP credentials which Ashley has gained are in place to expand the knowledge of sustainability for the transportation industry, cultivate a community of experts knowledgeable in sustainable transportation and promote the most current and credible research and connect it to industry.
In order to become STP accredited, Ashley was examined in five core areas roughly based on the categories in the Greenroads Rating System:
Environment & Water
Access and Liveability
Materials and Design
Utilities and Controls
Of her new accreditation, Ashley says: “This accreditation has given me the opportunity to further not only my career in the field of sustainable transport but Aurecon’s standing in this field as well. Gaining accreditation is the first step in the right direction to enable me to foster a sustainable design culture within Aurecon globally.”
