Aurecon grows processing and EPCM offering

20 April 2012 - Aurecon continues to strengthen its global resources offering with the appointments of Doug Rogers as Technical Director and Bruce Leigh as Lead Construction Manager within its Resources and Manufacturing Services group.

Dan Curry, Development Leader, Resources for Aurecon, said: “We are delighted to have Doug join us. His expertise in the minerals processing industry will strengthen our team. This is especially relevant in light of our strategic alliance with JKTech earlier this year.”

The JK Aurecon alliance offers a complete team that links expert assessment of mine processing with extensive experience in enabling mine infrastructure, reducing total costs and improving sustainability outcomes for resource projects.

Doug has over 34 years of experience in the minerals processing and chemical process industry. He joined Aurecon from Lycopodium where he held the position of Manager – Process Engineering. His significant know-how, gained within Australia and Africa includes 25 years in a process plant contracting environment, exposed to minerals and chemical processing projects. It also comprises design and commissioning briefs in platinum group metals, gold processing including pressure oxidation, food industry, sulphuric acid manufacture, sodium cyanide production, titanium dioxide processing, chlorine gas, ammonia and mineral processing.

Doug’s focus will be to assist with the consistent achievement of global and local clients’ resource project requirements using his experience and ability to fluently speak the language of the mining and mineral processing industries.

Doug said: “I am looking forward to using my background in the work Aurecon is doing to assist their clients achieve economic efficiencies in capital expenditure via an alternative delivery model in resource development projects. This presents me with a new and different opportunity.”

Dan concluded: “With over 80 offices worldwide, Aurecon has a presence in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East. So while Doug may be based in Perth, Western Australia, Aurecon teams from across the globe will be tapping into his expertise.”

Bruce Leigh

Bruce Leigh is a construction professional with 37 years of experience. Bruce joins Aurecon from WorleyParsons (Western Australia Corporate) where he held the position of Manager of Construction.

Bruce has worked in both customer and contractor organisations. His experience, gained in South Africa, Vietnam, Fiji, Indonesia as well as Australia and New Zealand covers the management of design, project, construction, and commissioning for major petroleum, gas and mineral processing plants. He has been involved in many major EPCM projects in the oil and gas, and mining sectors. He also has extensive experience in the global development and implementation of construction and health, safety and environment systems, processes and standards.

Bruce’s major project experience includes Bunbury Berth 6 for Worsley Alumina (BHP Billiton), the Bali North Gas Project, Western Australia’s North West Shelf Phases ll & III as well as the Bulong Nickel Project in Kalgoorlie and Marsden Point Refinery Expansion in New Zealand.

Bruce’s focus will be to provide leadership in the development and implementation of an executable construction and commissioning framework and systems within Aurecon to provide consistent and repeatable project delivery.
