Aurecon judged ‘Number One Company in South Africa in the Engineering Groups Sector’

08 October 2010 - Aurecon South Africa (Pty) Ltd has been adjudicated as the Number One Company in South Africa in the Engineering Groups Sector, according to a recent ranking by the Top 500: South Africa's Best Managed Companies publication.
Published by Topco Media, the publication is a respected industry authority which ranks business in South Africa on the basis of a critical set of performance criteria. With a goal of profiling leading businesses in terms of both global and South African best practice standards, the publication identifies businesses which excel in their specific sectors and in addition, have a strong set of social, empowerment and development policies in place.

“Achieving this ranking is a testament to the on-going success of the Aurecon brand,” explains Dr Gustav Rohde, Aurecon’s Chief Executive Africa – Middle East. “Our brand represents a shift beyond engineering. This year’s ranking saw Topco Media review thousands of companies, both listed and unlisted, against an extensive set of criteria related to three key areas of business:

  • Financial Performance, including factors such as turnover, growth, profitability and productivity
  • People development and human resources, incorporating BBBEE ownership and equity, employment equity, skills development and gender empowerment
  • Accreditations and written company policies, incorporating ISO accreditations, industry related accreditations, written policies for HIV/Aids, environmental and other governance related issues. 

 “The competition has been very strong this year, and, in addition, we have upped the ante with the measurement criteria,” says Ralf Fletcher, CEO of Topco Media (Pty) Ltd. He goes on to conclude that “Aurecon South Africa (Pty) Ltd has exhibited an impressive aura of success, something that is a key ingredient in our publication.”
