10 May 2010 - Aurecon is pleased to announce a merger whereby AKi (previously Axis and KAYP), a Johannesburg and Cape Town based engineering consultancy, will merge its operations with Aurecon as of the 1st of May 2010.
This integration mirrors continued efforts to increase the skills base and capacity within our organisation. The combination will unite two market leaders in the field who will, together, be uniquely positioned to provide our clients with an even more comprehensive set of solutions.
Founded in 1954, AKi is a full-service consulting engineering company practising in the fields of structural and civil engineering, as well as engineering geology. They are well known in industry for their involvement in past projects such as the Sun City and Lost City developments. The addition of AKi’s proven skill to Aurecon’s existing service offering will both strengthen and consolidate Aurecon’s position as an industry leader, particularly in the building engineering environment.
We believe this decision holds manifold benefits for our clients, some of which are listed below:
The merger will increase Aurecon’s ability to serve our large corporate clients in the commercial (offices and mixed use), large retail and light industrial markets in RSA’s major centers.
The leisure and corporate sector of our operations will be greatly strengthened by a wider offering of multidisciplinary services, for which Aurecon and AKi are renowned.
The merger will allow AKi to leverage Aurecon’s global footprint, thereby enabling a better service to AKi clients.
Our goal is to continue to deliver innovative, high-quality services to our clients. To accomplish this, we will adhere to the established success our existing solutions have achieved while simultaneously exploring opportunities to provide clients with additional value in new areas.
We believe this strategic merger will further enable us to deliver on our vision to be: Leading. Vibrant. Global.
