World-leading stadium design means thinking outside of the box to deliver innovative designs that imaximise a stadium’s potential. Read more about some of Aurecon's world-leading stadia projects.

Wembley Stadium
Working as part of the Mott Stadium Consortium, Aurecon was engaged to undertake the structural engineering of this iconic stadium arch and roof, as well as provide advice on the initial concept design for electrical, vertical transportation and mechanical services.

Etihad Stadium
Aurecon was appointed for the building services, structural and civil engineering for Etihad Stadium’s design and construction, which took a brownfield railway site to a world-class stadium with a seating capacity of 52 000 seats during sports matches and up to 70 000 seats for concerts and events.

Margaret Court Arena
The Margaret Court Arena project has transformed an under-utilised outdoor tennis court into a year-round entertainment venue. The crowning feature of the venue, the sleek operable roof, can be opened or closed in under five minutes, housing an arena suitable for tennis, basketball, netball and concert events.

Perth Arena
Aurecon was engaged to provide design services for the structural, façade, vertical transport, retractable roof mechanism and fire safety engineering components of the Perth Arena. Through its breath-taking design the Arena has quickly become a Perth landmark and reportedly Australia’s finest venue public amenity in Perth’s central entertainment precinct.

Adelaide Oval
The Adelaide Oval redevelopment transformed Adelaide Oval into a 21st century stadium, providing a unique 53 500 person facility to host cricket, Australian Football League (AFL) and other major events. The use of the latest Building Information Modelling (BIM) design and modelling tools from concept through to construction allowed a full representation of venue characteristics, ensuring optimised design, clear communication of design intent, and sustainable long term outcomes for the client.

Melbourne Cricket Ground
Aurecon has played a key part in the evolution of the MCG for over 20 years. In the early 90s we were engaged for the design and construction of the Great Southern Stand, achieving a remarkably short 15 month construction programme. More recently, we engineered the refurbishment of the Great Southern Stand to reflect the amenity expected in a modern grandstand.

The Peter Mokaba Sporting Complex
Dozens of Aurecon engineering teams worked on a number of key projects to help equip South Africa to host rge 2010 FIFA World Cup™.  The Peter Mokaba Stadium was one such project.

ŠKODA Stadium open for business
Aurecon designed the building services elements of this development, working closely with the client team to ensure budget conscious and timely engineering advice was provided to the project team.

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
Aurecon was part of the structural design team consortium that created this magnificent sports stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The roof design, made to look like a flower with a series of white 'petals' has been described as an 'engineering masterpiece' by Consulting Engineers South Africa.

TEDA Soccer Stadium
China’s magnificent Tianjin Technological Development Area (TEDA) Soccer Stadium is the centrepiece of the 100 million m2 commercial expansion of Tianjin’s bustling Economic-Technological Development Area.  Aurecon provided structural, civil and building services for the imposing 35,000 seat stadium.

Forsyth Barr Stadium
Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand, is the world’s only permanently covered stadium with a natural turf playing field. It was officially opened in August 2011 in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. It has been heralded with widespread praise for its great atmosphere and functionality.

Saxton Field Sports Stadium
Aurecon’s engineers provided key input into this stadium  to create an attractive and comfortable indoor environment that meets the performance requirements of current and future community level indoor sports.
