Singida-Katesh Road Upgrade, Tanzania

Aurecon provided supervision services for the Singida-Katesh road upgrade, which covered 65 km of the road link between the northern zone and the central corridor (Dodoma). The upgrade from gravel to bitumen standards was necessary due to an increase in traffic and the increasing cost of routine maintenance.

Construction was undertaken by a Chinese contractor, Synohydro. The project also included construction of drainage culverts. The project was funded by the Government of Tanzania by means of a loan from the African Development Bank.

The project contributed to the development of local knowledge and skills transfer through the involvement of local sub-consultant, Interconsult, and counterpart staff from the Tanzania National Roads Agency.
