Aurecon provided the civil and the structural engineering services for the Dhevatara Cove development located on the Bay of Lipa Noi on the west coast of Koh Samui. This included the building structures, the site access roads, foundations, swimming pools, retaining walls and service tanks.
Dhevatara Cove comprises six luxury villa residences. Within the development are spa, sauna and gymnasium facilities.
The site’s isolated location proved to be one of the main challenges experienced by the project team. The use of precast concrete construction and an understanding of local construction capability helped the project meet the construction timeline.
All residences have direct access to the beach, bordered by a tropical forest hillside. In the wake of the 2005 tsunami, the project team included a sea wall to protect the site. A stunning feature of the architecture is traditional Thai roofs which utilise contemporary materials. As a result, Dhevatara Cove went on to become a multi-awarded property project, winning the Thailand Property Awards in 2006 and 2007, and the Asia Pacific Property Awards in 2007 and 2008.
