Aurecon was appointed by the Thai Oil Public Company Limited (Thai Oil) to provide FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and Detailed Design of a 2.6 kilometre long jetty along the Gulf of Thailand.
This capacity expansion of existing berthing facilities at its refinery in the Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, Thailand is to support production increase.
The project involved the FEED and Detailed Design for a new platform with loading facilities, dolphin with berthing facility, jetty trestles, pipe rack, pipelines, pipe supports and cathodic protection. Aurecon also provided the FEED design for the onshore process, mechanical and electrical design for new transfer pumps, additive dosing systems and benzene vapour recovery.
The new berths, 7 and 8, will make it possible for large vessels – between 3 000 and 50 000 DWT – to call at the port, supplementing the existing facilities of four jetties with six berths for ships in the range of 500 to 5 000 DWT.
Thai Oil operates a complex refinery with capacity of 275 000 barrels per day. It is Thailand's largest petroleum oil refiner and supplier, accounting for 22 per cent of the country's refining capacity.
