Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) is an integral part of Qatar's National Vision 2030 which aims, through sustainable development, to transform Qatar into one of the world's most advanced economies within two decades.
QSTP represents a new master plan concept for science and technology parks worldwide. As a home for technology-based companies from around the world, and an incubator of start-up enterprises, QSTP is set to become a major contributor to the development of Qatar's economy.
QSTP is set to become an internationally recognised landmark due to its design being striking and contemporary, yet respectful of Qatari culture and suitable for withstanding the often harsh desert climate. The design is truly original, with application of ingenuity and innovation in order to achieve the client’s vision for the project.
Aurecon undertook the structural, civil, façade, security, and fire life safety design for the QSTP and worked closely with architects, Woods Bagot, to ensure the successful realisation of this development.
The design features the separation of motor vehicles from pedestrians while the podium provides a pedestrian-only landscaped environment, under a ‘veil’ shade structure that links the buildings. People are encouraged to move freely between the activity hubs in the tenant building atrium spaces and the Incubator Centre’s retail outlets and service facilities. It is truly a place for people; a green respite with the sound of moving water.
