Aurecon in QatarQatar has successfully transformed itself into one of the world’s fastest growing economy, owing to the discovery of significant oil and gas reserves in the 1970s. As of 2007, Qatar has the highest GDP per capita in the world.

Possessing more than 15% of the world’s natural gas reserves, Qatar is one of the leaders in the production and export of liquefied natural gas, oil and petrochemicals and is projected to become one of the world’s global energy giants.

In 2010 Qatar was successful in its bid to become the first Arab state to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The win has seen huge boosts in government spending on large-scale infrastructure.

Aurecon has had a full presence in Qatar since 2010. Aurecon Qatar has particular expertise in transport and property, specialising in transport planning, roads and bridges, rail, infrastructure and transportation master planning, building services, and is able to provide total design services supported by Aurecon’s global network of resource.

Notable local projects involvement includes:

  • the delivery of structural, civil, façade, security, and fire life safety design for the iconic Qatar Science and Technology Park,
  • traffic impact study for the Qatar National Bank Tower,
  • as well as engineering and programme management for the Doha Expressway Programme which involves the construction of new and upgrading of a number of expressways in Doha and other areas of Qatar.

Through our involvement on the Doha Expressway Programme, Aurecon has developed a sound relationship with local authorities, establishing an in-depth understanding of the Doha transport model, familiarity with the road networks, and insight into existing and planned infrastructure developments.
