Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to overtake South Africa’s by 2025 to be the new economic giant in Africa.
As one of the largest oil and gas producing countries in the world, petroleum plays a central role in the Nigerian economy, although a large percentage of the population remains involved in agriculture. In addition, the economy has a growing telecommunications market, a well-developed financial services sector and an established manufacturing industry.
Aurecon’s team has contributed to Nigeria’s vital infrastructure since the early 2000’s, with services in the Transport industry that encompass conceptual, feasibility and planning phases, through to design and construction supervision of projects. In addition, we have provided ancillary services including advisory and project management services.
Our steady growth in Nigeria now includes involvement in projects in diverse sectors such as Advisory, Energy, Property and Water.
Furthermore, our positioning in Nigeria is aligned with the strategic objective to expand development into the West African market and is ideally situated to provide support in countries such as Ghana and Cameroon.
Our contribution within Nigeria is strengthened by our knowledge and understanding of the geographic, cultural, environmental and security factors as well as statutory and legal requirements that are unique to Nigeria.
Projects completed to date include the pre- and feasibility study for the Lagos Infrastructure Project, detail design and construction supervision of the Epe Expressway Toll Road; detail design of two bridges in Isheri; detail design of the Osborne Jetty Terminal; and stormwater master planning and detail design of stormwater structures for Benin City; basic planning for the new NLNG ISB/OSB development in Port Harcourt; detail design of the Kashimbila and Otukpo Dams; feasibility studies for the Ibadan Expressway Toll Road and a 1 200 MW coal fired power plant in Kogi State.
