Warrick Pierce

Warrick Pierce, Aurecon

Warrick Pierce is a member of Aurecon’s Management and Advisory Unit in Tshwane.

He obtained a master’s degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on wind energy from Stellenbosch University in 2008.

Since then he has been actively involved in renewable energy projects, from solar resource assessments to Aurecon’s 5 GW Solar Corridor feasibility study for South Africa’s Department of Energy.

Warrick is passionate about solar thermal technologies, specifically concentrated solar power.

To deepen his knowledge in this field and explore an exciting research topic he pursued a part time master’s degree in renewable and sustainable energy. The research was done under the supervision of Paul Gauche from the Solar Thermal Energy Research Group. Pierce passed the programme cum laude and saw an article stemming from the work published in the international journal Applied Thermal Engineering.
