Francois Heyns

Francois is a Professional Engineer (Civil) within Aurecon.

Francois is based in Tshwane, South Africa who has extensive experience in development and implementation of railway projects acting as a project leader and/or director in the railway and transportation sector. Most recently he has been involved in a number of heavy haul mining projects all over Africa. Clients have included Transnet, Vale, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and various junior miners.

He has worked throughout Africa including countries such as; South Africa, Nigeria, Congo, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Zambia; Botswana and Namibia as well as spending significant time in Malaysia, United Kingdom and the United States.

Francois has a PhD from the Railway Engineering Program of the University of Massachusetts, and is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is a Fellow Member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).
