He has thirteen years of experience in the field of dam and hydropower engineering ranging from design engineer to project director. Bertrand has led and participated in the various design stages throughout the life cycles of numerous dams and hydropower projects starting from reconnaissance studies of green field sites, through to feasibility study and financial close, as well as implementation and commissioning.

While his work experience pertains predominately to the African continent his country work experience include Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda and Tanzania. He has also provided expert review of hydropower projects in Asia.
Bertrand is currently responsible for the design and project management of the 40MW hydropower development at the Kashimbila multipurpose dam in Nigeria, the 3.3MW hydropower development at the Otukpo multipurpose dam in Nigeria; and the 4.4MW Stortemelk Hydropower Project in South Africa.
