09 November 2015 - Aurecon has taken out the 2015 Organisational Leadership in Infrastructure Sustainability Award presented by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) at their annual awards night held on the 21st of October in Sydney.

Now in its second year, the ISCA Sustainability in Infrastructure Awards brings together hundreds of industry leaders and practitioners to recognise projects, organisations and individuals who demonstrate leadership in advancing infrastructure that is environmentally, socially and economically optimised.

Aurecon was presented the esteemed Organisational Leadership in Infrastructure Sustainability Award, which identifies the organisation that exhibits the most outstanding performance, leadership and greatest contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability.

In selecting the winner, the judging panel highlighted Aurecon’s scale, leadership, market influence as well as their excellent embedding of sustainability principles and frameworks into a large organisation. They were particularly impressed with Aurecon’s dedication to balance economic growth with social development and protection of the environment.

Geoff Linke, Aurecon Managing Director for Infrastructure, said “We are humbled to be recognised for our contributions to the communities in which we operate. We believe that in a world of shifting climate, increasing urbanisation and biodiversity loss, it has never been more vital to apply our skills and energy to positive and sustainable developments.”

Aurecon Senior Civil Engineer, Ashely Stevenson, was shortlisted for the highly contested Individual Leadership Award for her exceptional contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability. Ashley is Chair of the ISCA Design Working Group and has gained accreditation as an Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Professional and a Greenroads Sustainable Transportation Professional (STP).

“I feel honoured to be nominated among such an esteemed group of individuals. I am committed to continue learning about how we can integrate sustainability measures into every project we are involved in, not only improve design and construction practices but also to improve the local community and environment,” Ashley said.
