Looking ahead at AWA's National Operations Conference

24 October 2014 - Aurecon’s Colin Dominish will be discussing whether urbanisation will break the big cities at the Australian Water Association’s National Operations Conference in Cairns on 28-30 October 2014.

The theme of the conference is ‘Affordability, liveability and sensitivity – operations in the twenty teens’.

Colin’s paper will explore the threats and opportunities placed on the world’s largest cities by the trend towards urbanisation.

“Urbanisation has meant that the demand for clean water in cities has never been greater,” Colin said.

Julian Briggs, Aurecon’s Water and Wastewater Treatment Leader, will be attending the conference and said that he is looking forward to discussing with clients and project partners the complex issues that underpin the planning, development and implementation of water resources for the sustainable benefit of communities, industry, agriculture and the environment.

“With the cost of delivering water continuing to increase, our teams are focused on assisting our clients to meet this challenge through applying smart thinking and technology driven solutions to deliver cost efficiencies and provide value for money to their customers,” Julian said.

“In the current capital constrained market, we are being challenged to extend the life of existing assets whilst maintaining or improving existing performance.

“In doing this we are often reducing operational safety margins and therefore it is critical that we understand and address operational challenges and constraints as part of this process” he said.

Aurecon is sponsoring the conference dinner where Julian Briggs will be giving a brief address to delegates.
