In line with this, the company recently sponsored dictionaries as prizes for a spelling bee hosted by the ‘Dear Dad’ programme, which focuses on encouraging young learners in disadvantaged communities to read and write by providing voluntary tutoring at primary schools.
The spelling bee took place in Bela-Bela on 22 February 2014 and saw learners from the community enthusiastically showing off their spelling skills obtained from the ‘Dear Dad’ tutoring classes.
Aurecon’s commitment to enhancing the standard of education in disadvantaged communities began more than 35 years ago and continues to be one of the company’s focus areas when it comes to corporate social responsibility.
