19 June 2013 - The Ghana branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) recently hosted a charity golf day at the Celebrity Golf Park in Accra, Ghana.
SPE is the largest international individual-member organisation serving engineers and other professionals in the oil and gas industry. The organisation aims to provide opportunities to enhance technical and professional competencies. It also serves as a platform for these professionals to share the technical knowledge necessary to meet the world’s energy needs in a safe and environmentally-responsible manner.
Aurecon was a sponsor at the prestigious golf day, the purpose of which was to raise funds toward two worthy causes: firstly, for Orphan Aid Africa, a non-profit organisation that develops programmes and projects in care reform, family support and education; and secondly, in support of funding students who to wish to study Petroleum Engineering.
The golf day event was honoured by the presence of Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, his Royal Majesty, the king of Akyem Abuakwa, an ancient kingdom in the eastern region of Ghana.
Almeroux Loubser, Aurecon’s Country Manager in Ghana, said, “Aurecon’s firmly-established roots in Africa enable us to understand and appreciate the diverse and dynamic circumstances particular to the West African region.
“In collaboration with our clients in this region, we have facilitated several new developments and welcome opportunities such as SPE’s charity golf day which demonstrate our growing involvement here, our interest in responsibly contributing towards the development of the oil and gas industry as well as our commitment to making a significant contribution to the developing world.”
