09 June 2009 - Global group Aurecon has recently been awarded top honours in the 2009 SAPOA Awards for Innovative Excellence in Property Development. Two of Aurecon’s projects were appointed as winners in their categories.
The massive Fairlands project, developed by RMB Properties, was appointed as overall winner in the Office Developments category. The building is the new landmark at the intersection of Gauteng's Beyers Naude Drive and the N1 Western Bypass in Fairlands, Johannesburg, and houses the new corporate head offices for Wesbank and FNB Homeloans. The R1.2 billion development was commissioned in January 2006 and completed in March 2008, while the joint venture of Aurecon and Iliso were appointed for all the structural and civil engineering services on the project.
Aurecon was also involved in the Extensions to the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg, a winning project in the Other Developments category. Aurecon was responsible for all mechanical engineering aspects of the project, which was completed in April 2008 and highlights many sustainable building principles.
