Peter is a lawyer and practiced in South Africa for nearly 20 years including as a partner of South Africa’s largest law firm, now known as Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs, before joining leading Australian law firm, now known as Herbert Smith Freehills, in 1987. At Herbert Smith Freehills he took on a range of senior roles including becoming National Chairman from 1995 to 2000. He conceived and led the integration initiatives of two large law firm mergers.
His directorships have included Zinifex Limited (as Chair), West Australian Newspaper Holdings Limited (as Chair), Western Power (as Chair), Foodland Associated Limited, OZ Minerals Limited, Nyrstar NV, the Australian subsidiaries of Anglogold Limited, for a period the Anglo American Limited and Billiton plc Australian subsidiaries that held their Australian manganese assets and The Hoyts Corporation Pty Limited.
Peter is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was formerly Western Australian President and National Board Director.
He brings pragmatic and strong leadership to Aurecon and an understanding of businesses operating across the globe.
