Prior to joining Aurecon in February 2015, Giam was Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Australia for 12 years.
Giam was a member of Deloitte’s Global Board and Global Board Governance Committee for three years, and was also a member of the Deloitte Global Executive Committee for four years.
Giam became CEO of Deloitte on 1 June 2003 after moving with his family to Australia in 1997. He began his career as an auditor with Deloitte in South Africa, and subsequently worked for the firm in the USA before returning to become Managing Partner of its Tshwane office.
Innovation and agility is core to Giam’s vision and leadership culture. His stewardship of Deloitte Australia led the firm to achieve multiple coveted industry awards with accolades including the Accounting Firm of the Year and the Audit Firm of the Year in the Australian Financial Review CFO Awards 2013-2014.
Giam is also dedicated to building strong and diverse culture and his outstanding efforts to improve the recognition of women in the workplace have been widely recognised.
In 2005, he was named ‘Best CEO for the Advancement of Women in Business’ by the Australian Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women Agency.
The following year, Giam was recognised by the Australian HR Awards, winning the ‘HR Champion – CEO’ award.
