 Aurecon's office in Indonesia, PT Aurecon Indonesia was formally established in 2001 as a local entity, following an initial presence as a representative office since 1997.

Playing a prominent role in the mining sector, Aurecon Indonesia has delivered several mining and industrial infrastructure projects for ports and bulk material handling. Recent projects include the INCO Transportation, Bontang Continuous Barge Unloader and Pulau Laut Coal Terminal.

Aurecon Indonesia is also involved in projects across property, energy and transportation sectors.

According to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, investment in the country’s mining sector increased from USD1.2 billion in 2007 to USD1.6 billion in 2008. Despite the effects of the recent global economic crisis, Indonesia’s mining industry is expected to reach USD123 billion by 2014, with annual growth of 10 -11 percent from 2010 onwards.

The Republic of Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 18,110 islands, of which 6,000 are inhabited. After China, India and the US, it is the fourth most populated country in the world with approximately 230 million people.

Situated in Southeast Asia and Oceania, Indonesia’s government faces the ongoing challenge of improving the country’s infrastructure to remove barriers to economic growth. Indonesia’s government maintains a strong influence over the economy which is primarily market-based with a strong reliance on domestic consumption.
